LUXEXCEL INTRODUCES 3D RX LENSES WITH VUZIX AT CES 2018
This week, Luxexcel 3D-printed prescription lens inserts will be introduced with the Vuzix Blade AR (augmented reality) headset at CES 2018 in Las Vegas. The Luxexcel VisionPlatform enables 3D printing of ophthalmic lenses for specialty applications, including augmented reality, for which the Belgian company received an equity investment of $4.7 million from Netherlands-based venture capital fund Innovation Industries. Hans Streng, CEO of Luxexcel, said: “60% of the U.S. population needs eye correction. Without custom prescription inserts, those people will not be able to fully enjoy the most advanced new augmented reality products.” Learn more about Luxexcel here: 3D PRINTED LENSES ARE HERE, NOW.

CEwire2018 will feature a virtual exhibit hall and educational sessions where eyecare professionals can earn up to 50 COPE-approved continuing education credits. Now in its fourth year, the virtual optometric conference has attracted 7,500 optometrists to remotely attend this year’s event.
REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR VISION EXPO EAST
For the 30,000 eyecare professionals who prefer a more traditional, in-person trade show and conference, Vision Expo East will take place at the Javits Center in New York City, March 15-18, with four days of education and an exhibition of products and services on the final three days. Vision Expo’s recently launched website makes it easier for attendees to register, connect with others and access the information to plan their time at the show. The new website also displays Vision Expo’s new creative campaign, All About Eyes, along with the special events, education, complimentary amenities, contests and awards to take place on-site. Many events debuting in 2018 will take place in newly transformed lounges, providing attendees with more opportunities to learn, socialize and engage with exhibitors and peers.
