FIRST PROP 65 VIOLATION NOTICE FILED

The first filing of a Proposition 65 notice of violation against a California retailer (Urban Outfitters, Inc.) allegedly selling sunglasses containing Bisphenol A (BpA) was made last week, on March 26, 2018. BpA, a material used in the manufacture of polycarbonate lenses, is on Proposition 65’s list of potentially harmful substances and has a maximum allowable dosage in California of 3 micrograms per day from dermal exposure from solid materials. THE VISION COUNCIL UPDATES LENS DESCRIPTION 

The Vision Council’s Lens Division and Lens Product Description Standard Committee have announced changes to the Lens Description Standard, with additions to the standard in the color and filters categories. The updated standard (Lens Description Standard v. 2.2) includes the color violet with a label of VIOn, and the High Energy Visible filter, with a label of HEV. Read More>>
