 ABB UPDATES SITE, UPGRADES SERVICES. Primary Eyecare Network (PEN), a division of ABB OPTICAL GROUP, recently unveiled a new website which allows ECPs and office staff to find educational opportunities as well as consolidated billing for members. The billing portal offers PEN members the convenience of quick access to online monthly billing statements through secure, private logins, with statements organized by category for convenient online viewing. The website also offers education listings and online registration, manufacturer promotions and rebates, and issues of Focal Point, PEN’s bi-monthly newsletter. SYNERGEYES VIDEO SERIES. SynergEyes Duette’ released a series of 48 videos that shares tips and advice from practitioners. The peer-to-peer videos cover topics such as how to present the lens to patients, advice for new Duette fitters, insertion and removal tips, and how the high-performance contact lens for astigmatic and presbyopic patients has made a difference in their practice. OPTOVUE LAUNCHES OPTOVUE ACADEMY. Clinical education, technician training, and practice development tracks are all offered in Optovue’s new online learning portal, Optovue Academy. ALDEN CREATES FORUM FOR SPECIALTY FITTERS.
The Contact Lens Residents Forum (CLRF) was recently launched by Alden Optical to support cornea and contact lens residents. The program will be headed by Brooke Messer, OD, FSLS, and will help residents maximize their specialty fitting experience and transition into practice. ALCON PUBLISHES E-BOOK FOR BACK TO SCHOOL. In Howard and the Amazing Eye Exam, Howard the hedgehog shares a tale about a visit to his eye doctor. Not only does the book calm kids’ fears about visiting the optometrist, but it also hopes to inspire parents to schedule comprehensive eye exams for their children. “Good vision is a vital tool that paves the way for a kid’s success in school,” said Catherine McDaniel, pediatric optometrist and co-author of the book. Since 80% of all classroom learning is visual, according to the American Optometric Association, vision problems that go unnoticed can impact a child’s school success.
