READING SUCCESS AND OPTOMETRY. San Diego-based optometrist, David Bloch, OD, has developed Reading Without Limits, a children’s reading program that focuses on strengthening the eye muscle and solving visual processing issues to improve reading ability. The program uses a variety of drills that are easy for children to understand and have shown improvements in as quickly as two months. “If a child has shown little-to-no improvement with standard reading programs within a six-month period, it is highly likely they have an undiagnosed vision or vision processing problem,” explains Dr. Bloch. Reading Without Limits catches vision impairments that often go undiagnosed during a traditional eye exam or reading program. The program is open to taking on more doctors to expand the program on a national level through a licensing agreement and training program.
